Thousand Wishes Foundation
A Thousand Wishes Foundation was established in October 2018 by a group of family members of persons with autism. It is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation established to pursue general-welfare goals, improve social and health protection, and improve the position of persons with autism and intellectual disability.
Areas of interest in which the Foundation is focusing its activities are issues of youth and adults with autism, i.e. education, housing, employment and health care. In addition, the Foundation is devoted to education of families and professionals, with special interest in insufficiently spoken or problematic topics.
The Foundation mission is to build a community that will have a significant impact in the lives of autistic persons, their families and professionals who work with them, and to empower autistic people and their families with knowledge and resources.
Families play a pivotal role in raising awareness about autism, educating others on the challenges faced by those on the spectrum, and pushing for inclusive policies and practices within their communities.
By sharing their experiences and advocating for policy changes, families contribute significantly to creating a more supportive environment for autistic individuals, ultimately enhancing their quality of life and access to essential services. We believe that professionals and empowered families are crucial in encouraging an inclusive environment in which autistic persons can and must thrive.
