Autism-Europe
Autism-Europe (AE) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the rights, inclusion, and well-being of autistic people and their families. Established in 1983, AE unites more than 90 member organisations from 40 European countries, working collectively to improve policies and services across Europe.
Family support is essential because families play a central role in the development and well-being of autistic people. By empowering families through education, resources, and advocacy, we can create supportive environments where autistic people can thrive. Family support builds resilience by equipping autistic people and their caregivers with the tools and confidence needed to navigate challenges. It reduces stress by creating a network of understanding, shared responsibility, and emotional support. This foundation fosters long-term well-being, enabling autistic people to reach their potential while helping families maintain stability and a better quality of life.
For Autism-Europe, advocacy means ensuring that the voices of people with autism and their families are heard at the highest levels of policy-making. It involves raising public awareness, influencing legislation, and promoting equal access to education, employment, and healthcare. Advocacy is at the heart of AE’s mission, driving efforts to build a more inclusive society where individuals with autism can enjoy their full rights and potential.
